COURSE DESCRIPTION
This advanced graduate course provides a comprehensive overview of Private International Law, also known as Conflict of Laws. It addresses the legal challenges and mechanisms involved in resolving disputes that cross international boundaries, particularly in civil and commercial matters. The course covers key areas such as jurisdiction, choice of law, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, and international arbitration. Students will also explore specialized topics like international contracts, torts, family law across borders, and international business transactions. Through a blend of theoretical analysis and practical case studies, the course aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of legal issues that span multiple legal systems.
