“Health Programs Monitoring and Evaluation” is an advanced-level course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the specialized field of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) within the context of healthcare and public health programs.

This course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of health interventions and programs. Through a combination of theoretical concepts, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, students will gain the expertise required to contribute meaningfully to the improvement of healthcare services and health outcomes.

Course Objectives:

Foundations of Health Program M&E: Students will develop a solid foundation in the principles, theories, and key concepts of monitoring and evaluation as they relate to health programs.

Data Collection and Analysis: Participants will learn to design data collection methods, collect health-related data, and apply appropriate analytical techniques to draw meaningful conclusions.

Evaluation Frameworks: This course will explore various evaluation frameworks, including logic models and theories of change, to guide the evaluation of health programs and interventions.

Performance Measurement: Students will gain proficiency in designing and using performance indicators to assess and track the progress of health programs.

Ethical Considerations: The course will emphasize the importance of ethical practices in health program M&E, addressing issues related to data privacy, informed consent, and reporting.

Health Program Case Studies: Through the analysis of real-world health program case studies, students will gain practical insights into the challenges and best practices in healthcare M&E.

Stakeholder Engagement: Participants will learn to engage with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and community members, to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of M&E activities.

Reporting and Communication: The course will cover effective communication of M&E findings to various audiences, including written reports, presentations, and data visualization.
